Raising money for a good cause

One of our year 10 students Tazmin Hill approached Mrs Callaghan about organising a fund raising event for teenage cancer charity. This was very close to her heart as she had recently lost a friend and wanted to do something in memory and also raise money to help other children like her dear friend.

As head of Phoenix house I was wanting to enlist a new charity on to our house and this seemed the perfect charity to link too. Cancer has touched many people and over my years of teaching I have seen students battle and beat cancer but also tragically lost students from this. To me it touched my heart and 100% with the rest of Phoenix House supported this charity and fundraising event.

Bake sales were set up and an organised cinema afternoon set up. Tazmin promoted daily for a week to everyone in school and through her hard work and determination she has raised at the final count £210.83. This is a remarkable achievement and she as I am should be very proud of herself. This money will go along way in supporting teenagers who are currently battling cancer.

A massive well done to Tazmin for al your hard work.
