Rotary Youth Speaks Competition 14th February 2017

We were delighted to take part in this prestigious national public speaking competition this year, where we were exceptionally well represented by our two intermediate teams.

Newland A  spoke on the topic of ‘ Is social media safe for us?’ This team consisted of; Uneza Usman (Y7)as Proposer of Thanks, Chloe Dolman (Y8) as Speaker and Visaali Sivadeepan (Y7) as Chairperson.

Newland B debated the question ‘Should the school day be later?’ This team consisted of; Paige Howlett (Y7) as Chairperson, Caisey Leigh Adams (Y8) as Speaker and Grace Stockdale (Y7) as Proposer of Thanks.

Both teams were required to introduce their topic and prepare a 6 minute speech about the subject. The teams performed brilliantly on the night and spoke confidently and fluently on their chosen topics. Newland School for Girls received a special congratulations from the Rotary club for their contribution and the quality of the development of their speeches in a relatively short timescale and we were very proud of our girls.

Congratulations to them all.
