Homework

Homework at KS3

Homework is used to extend, enrich and consolidate learning within school. There are a variety of different tasks set. Homework is weekly for core subjects English, Maths and Science.

Homework at KS4

As at KS3 Homework is used to extend, enrich and consolidate learning within school, but its role in embedding knowledge becomes key to success at GCSE. Lots more will be about learning small chunks of work and then being tested. Providing a quiet space for your daughter at home to learn and revise is essential for her success at KS4.

REMOTE EDUCATION

Remote education will only ever be considered as a last resort where a decision has already been made that attendance at school is not possible, but pupils are able to continue learning.

Prioritising attendance
Attendance is essential for pupils to get the most out of their school experience, including for their attainment, wellbeing, and wider life chances.

Remote education should not be viewed as an equal alternative to attendance in school. In such cases, remote education can have the benefit of allowing absent pupils to keep on track with their education and stay connected to their teachers and peers.  Pupils absent from school and receiving remote education still need to be marked as absent in the register.

Remote Education will be considered after consultation with either the Headteacher or the Deputy Headteacher under the following circumstances only.

1. the school is closed or there is a restriction on attendance, where school access for pupils is restricted

2. Individual cases where a pupil is unable to attend school but is able to learn.  There should only be limited circumstances where a pupil is unable to attend school but is able and well enough to continue their education remotely. These circumstances should only involve a short-term absence and might include pupils who are recovering from short- term illnesses & operations.

Work will be set for these individual pupils in google classroom after agreement with senior staff in school for the agreed short term time period.
