Students celebrated an extraordinary set of GCSE results, marking the school’s third consecutive year of academic growth and demonstrating the power of an all-girls, small school environment.

 

Headline metrics have jumped across every key area, with students outperforming national averages—and crucially outperforming girls nationally at the 9–5 and 9–4 boundaries across core subjects.

 

Key Highlights Include:

 

• Attainment 8 rose significantly to 48.75 (up from 44.14 last year). This measure shows us that students at Newland achieve on average a third of a grade better in each of their top 8 subjects than other students nationally

• 72% of students achieved Grade 4+ in English & Maths, a 14 percentage point increase from 58% last year.

• 54% secured Grade 5+ in English & Maths, up from 40% last year and 8% above the National average.

• Core Subject Mastery: 9–5 pass rates surpassed national figures by 13% in English, 15% in Maths, and 20% in Science.

• Double Science Success: 72% earned grades 4+ (up from 60%) and 60% secured grades 5+ (up from 45%).

• Top Tier Performance: 23% of all grades were Grade 7 or above

 

Unlocking Potential Through Single-Sex Education

We could not be prouder of our Year 11 cohort. These results are clear proof of what young women can achieve when given an environment tailored specifically to their needs. In a small school setting, no student is invisible. Combined with the unique benefits of single-sex education, our girls are empowered to break glass ceilings, defy stereotypes—particularly in STEM and core subjects—and perform at levels that outpace national outcomes for girls everywhere.

 

This success is down to the sheer dedication of our students, the relentless support of our families, and an extraordinary teaching staff who go above and beyond every single day.

 

Transformative Impact for Disadvantaged and SEND Pupils

 

Building on last year’s recognition from the Education Secretary—which placed NSG in the top 25% nationally for disadvantaged outcomes—the school has continued to close the attainment gap.

 

This year, 46% of disadvantaged students secured grades 9–5 in English and Maths, while 68% achieved grades 9–4, bringing performance directly in line with all students nationally.

 

Furthermore, targeted support across the school resulted in SEND pupils achieving their best-ever outcomes in the school’s history, reflecting the unwavering commitment of staff and the Senior Leadership Team to ensure every child thrives.
