Year 10

Throughout Y10, we aim to inspire our girls to focus on preparation for their future. We have a variety of live, remote, virtual and pre-recorded events planned throughout the year to help them decide on their choices for Further Education and future career pathways as well as building the skills they will need for life. They will also undertake work experience in person this year which will enable them all to experience the world of work and understand what it means to be part of a team outside of the school community.

In conjunction with Hull University, we are exploring virtual and ‘live’ online Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths opportunities throughout the year, including a medical careers fair and university-style lectures. This will obviously be dependent on guidance and restrictions put in place by the government and by the University themselves. We also are in partnership with Arkwright Scholarships; this means our girls are able to apply for scholarships if they have an interest in engineering and provides fantastic gateways into STEM careers and apprenticeship opportunities.

The students will also undergo live or remote tours and in person meetings with staff from the local colleges to help inform their choices, in which they will have the chance to see a taster of what life might be like post 16. They are also given extensive support through Careers interviews and work experience before they make final choices in Year 11. We believe that Y10 gives everyone a chance to prepare for their future career paths and to understand that they can succeed in whatever they want to be.
