Curriculum Intent

The Drama curriculum aims to provide students with an exciting and enriching experience of theatre. We believe that Drama is a powerful form of communication that fosters creativity, imagination, and personal growth. Through engaging in a range of practical and theoretical activities, students will develop a deep understanding of theatre as an art form and gain the confidence and skills to express themselves through performance.

Develop Practical Theatre Skills:

Acting: Develop a range of acting techniques, including voice, movement, characterisation, and improvisation.

Devising: Explore creative processes for devising original theatre pieces, from generating ideas and developing scripts to staging and performing.

Technical Theatre: Acquire basic skills in stagecraft, lighting, sound, and costume design.

Theatre Appreciation: Develop an informed understanding of different theatrical styles, periods, and genres.

Key Stage 4 Overview

Year 10: Focus on developing foundational acting skills, exploring different theatrical styles, and beginning to devise original pieces.

Year 11: Deepen understanding of theatrical concepts, refine practical skills, and prepare for the AQA GCSE Drama examination.
