In mathematics we want to create students who enjoy and are excited about mathematics. We would like all students to believe that they can be successful at mathematics. As a result they will become confident problem solvers, who can apply their knowledge of mathematics in any situation. This includes within other subject areas and outside of the classroom in real life situations.
We want our students to develop broad mathematical knowledge and understanding that enables them to contribute towards society.

All students are fluent in mathematical facts and procedures and can quickly recall these facts while moving between different contexts and representations.
All students can solve problems that involve a variety of facts, procedures and contexts.
We believe that through hard work and effort everyone can get better at maths.
Currently students in year 7 and 8 study a 5 year mastery programme of study, including those with SEN needs and those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Year 9 and 10 are completing the 3rd year and 4th year of the 5 year mastery curriculum. At the end of year 9 tiers of entry for GCSE are decided. These are finalised at the beginning of year 10.
Year 11 is a bespoke curriculum, based on the OCR frequency analysis of questions over the last
Homework will be set twice a week. One homework will involve learning 5 to 10 revision cards with a mini test on the due date. The second homework in year 7 and 8 is a written task to be completed online on iXL . https://uk.ixl.com/maths Login details are in your child’s planner.
In year 9, 10 and 11 homework is a written paper based task based on the current topic being taught or revision of previous topics taught.
